Full Description

Commercial earthing test holes were excavated in the corner of a field under pasture c 600yds SW of Saundby Park Farm, on the E slope of ground that extends to Haughgate Hill c 1 mile to W. What appeared to be a large post hole was noted. Ro pottery found, and a further 20 sherds on bare patches of the pasture land. It included samian and grey ware. (1)
Perambulation produced a few scattered sherds of grey and ? wares at SK 7661 8809, also one small lump of slag, just over the hedge in the field to the S a few more sherds were seen. Original material found by Mr March in 1963 now in NUM. He stated that this "post hole" classification was "very tentative". (2)
