Full Description

8 sherds of Ro pottery were found on Everton Carrs, on the E bank of the R Idle where the river turns N level with Everton Carrs Farm. The sherds came from a black peaty deposit 1ft 4in below the ground surface, and associated with a layer of pebbles 15ft wide. (1)
Mr March found the above sherds during the erection of a telephone pole. The material was passed to NUM, the year of find "c 1962". The pole has now been dropped but Mr March thinks the indicated site "about right". (2)
NB gird ref falls on west bank.
