Blidworth Rocks, c 1/2 mile from the church. The devestation of a century ago diminished their number but the chief survives as 2 masses of conglomerate. One is in a hollow, the other rests upon a natural platform to which a rude and roughly circular form has been given. They are glacial erratics, traditionally named the Druid's Stones, and may have been used for a sepulchral or religious purpose. (1)

In the valley below Budworth? (meant Blidworth?) is an enormous mass of conglomerate, 14 feet high and 84 feet in circumference. Near to it is a smaller mass. They have been called Druid stones but are probably glacial erratics. (2)

There is no evidence of archaeological finds having been made at or near these stones. They are a geological feature and similar deposits can be seen exposed in local quarries and cuttings. (3)

Part of the local Bunter sandstone formation. (4)

The main feature published is a mass of pebbly conglomerate, c. 4m high and c.3m. wide, resting on a sandstone outcrop. Ploughing and other denudation has given the outcrop the appearance of a roughly circular mound. The other published features comprise smaller boulders. No evidence that any local tradition is attached to the rocks could be found during field investigation; similar masses were seen exposed in a road-cutting in Blidworth and the relevant geological memoir(a) describes the conglomerate and and sandstone as part of the local Bunter Sandstone formation.
