Full Description
A low mound, probably a burial mound, on Hoe Hill, Plumtree is 27ft in diameter. (1)
Mr Houldsworth stated that Mr Oswald had informed him that Hoe Hill Cropwell Butler was meant, not the hill of the same name at Plumtree. (2)
Hoe Hill perambulated. The only artificial mounds that could be identified fall in a former gypsum quarry area ... the crest of the hill is thickly wooded however, possibly there is a tumulus within the wooded area. (4)
Top of hill now cleared. On the summit the only disturbance is that caused by burrowing animals - nothing of interest in spoil. (5)
See L892 for pottery nearby, L818 for Hoe Hill, Plumtree.
