Full Description
14/11/1984 A human burial was found in the garden of the Old Vicarage, Shelford during earthmoving for a landscaping scheme. The site is some 24.0m S of the churchyard. The burial was shallow, no sign of a grave pit, approx E-W. The skeleton was incomplete - of a male c 5ft 6in tall, c 30 years old. Death perhaps due to blows to head with a heavy blade, as suggested by marks on skull fragments. No evidence of date, but possibly associated with Civil War attack on Shelford. (1)
