8 antoniniani found below stone bridge Bawtry at SK 656927 by Mr CE Walker, Bank House, Bawtry; in possession of finder. (1)
Mr CE Walker, a solicitor, has now retired from practice and is resident in Devon. His younger brother John Walker knows of these coins; he stated that they were found by a labourer during the construction of piles for Bawtry Bridge c 1840 and were given to his grandfather (C Walker) who, late in life, presented them to his eldest grandson. Mr J Walker believes that his brother still holds the coins. The C19 Bawtry Bridge is at above grid ref (Notts / S Yorks border). (2)
