Full Description

Barnby dovecote - circular, with a conical roof. Only 15ft high, 63ft circumference. (cf Thoroton, Sibthorpe, but smaller). Earliest nesting holes are stone, later repairs in brick and pantile. (1) (2)

Dovecote, in paddock near Dovecote Farmhouse. Formerly independent, now part of a composite structure. Circular with conical roof; re-roofed pre 1927 with old and new tiles. Dimensions 63 ft circumference, 20ft diameter and 15ft high to the eaves. Limestone construction, 2ft 2in thick. Originally one storey, now upper of two storeys. Nest holes of stone; brick and pantile ones added during repairs. 728 nestholes in 1927. (4)
