Full Description
SE of Laxton Castle is a circular mound, resembling a burial mound, known as "Mushroom Hill". (1)
A mound, N of the cricket ground and partially levelled to improve the pitch, was trenched by the writer and found to have no ditch. A small piece of iron was found in the centre on a bed of clay at 1ft above natural level. The mound was composed of an alluvium foreign to the surrounding keuper marl. (2)
On the N edge of the cricket pitch at above grid ref is a feature which may well be the remains of the mound. (3)
