Full Description

A roughly L-shaped earthwork ditch with slight internal bank lies at the north-west corner of a field immediately east of the Trent by Kelham Bridge. The earthwork has been noted previously during T&PAT fieldwork for Severn Trent Water and may form part of a (unfinished?) Civil War period fortification defending the Trent crossing at Kelham. Alternatively it may mark the convergence of the former line of the two tracks (one now a metalled road) meeting at Kelham Bridge. (1)
Grid ref centred. See L3248 for well, L3249 for oval hollow
