Full Description

A wooden stake with iron-shod point found by Mr Reddington 15ft below ground level in excavations for the 2000m rowing course S of Holme Lock, 17/07/1970. Although no others were reported at the same time stakes of this kind (2-3in thick) are associated with other wooden piles at Holme Pierrepont, apparently the remains of flood banks. (1)
NB Grid ref given is SK 610308 - clearly a misprint.
