Full Description

Rectangular, smallish enclosures in W corner of field with many enclosures and ring ditches. Cutley Mill Lane. 6541/3 gives good view. Possibly another small enclosure to N, and also possible ring ditch (M 8229?) to NE. (1)
Samian sherd found, CAS --/08/1972. (?)
There are no surface indications of the markings, but a perambulation produced 2 sherds of grey ware (Derby form of the C3/C4). Topographically the situation is low-lying, adjacent to the Trent flood plain and protected by high ground to the SE. Probably an area of agricultural occupation dating from the IA/Ro period. (2)
Morph: 56.2.5 field system. (3)
NB some confusion over area of excavations, OS give above NGR only.
See M 8229 for ring ditches, L 9305-6 for other pottery.
