Full Description
An Anglo Saxon bowl said to have been found during the re-laying of cobbles in the market place. Now in NWM. (1)
Mr Radcliffe of Newark Museum is of the opinion that the find is an old one only recently reported. The market place is centred to SK 7986 5387; cobbling is still extant in places. (2)
Small plain bowl, hand-made hard-fired black to grey with coarse grits, mica and grass marks on base. Carbonised substance inside (gives 18-68). (3)
See L3171 for excavation in market place, may be the site of this find.
