Full Description
BA bronze axehead found at Northgate (centred at above grid ref ?). (1)
Found in 1927 on the Spitals site, Northgate allotments. Transitional, Type Roundhay, Penard, MBA. Length 163mm, cutting edge 53mm, weight 490g. Side flanges and stop ridge cast in one sequence. Loop filled with wood and debris. Broad rib. Damaged blade and head. Heavily pitted. Dark brown with bronze showing through on blade surface. Treated. (3)
