Full Description

Mrs Bird had already found some flints in June 1938 in large sandpit, from which sand was continually being taken for the bunkers of the nearby golf links. These included a pointed fire-reddened flake, an amber-coloured flake with hinge fracture, and two flakes with finely denticulated scraping margins. (1)
Feature shown on 1930 map (not on 1921), to N of rectory at above grid ref, which could be the pit in question, though there are several others in the vicinity. (2)
See L9241and L9655 for more flint finds and M822 for prehistoric house site.
