Full Description
W arm of a single large moat ? (1)
There is no surface evidence that these features ever formed a single unit. The W "moat" is a pond that appears never to have been larger. Not a moat, the situation is not suitable and there is no evidence of other arms. (2)
If connected - and they (including L 4102) probably are - they would make 2 sides of a roughly rectangular enclosure, with church perhaps at centre, as it is roughly equidistant from the 2 "moats". An early village boundary earthwork ? (3)
Cleared out by new owner in September 1994. Site visit noted clearance of vegetation and possible widening and smoothing. (4)
See L 4102 for eastern "arm", L 7677 for nearby linear hollow.
