Full Description

In 1954 a polished flint axehead was found on the surface at SK 627308, c 150yds from the road in Stanwolds Kennels. It is of a mottled brown and grey flint, 6.9in long, 2.4in at its max width and 1.4in thick. The axe is in the possession of Mrs Wallis of Stanwolds Kennels. (1)
Mrs Wallis retains the axe which is an excellent example and probably ceremonial. She recalls the find being made during copse clearance at above grid ref. (2)
