Full Description

Section of ditch 4.5m wide and 1.25m deep recorded from a sewer main trench. The fill was of mixed sand with distinct banding towards the bottom. Within the section was a small patch of burning which consisted of charcoal and ashy soil. No finds or other dating evidence was noted. The ditch could have been associated with a disused field boundary 7m to the W, or with nearby cropmark features (L4074, L8578). The ditch feature runs through a pasture field which might explain why it has not appeared on AP's. (1)
NB Ditch section located at above NGR on base map, although (1) is not 100% clear about this.
See L9548 for P Med pottery.
