Full Description

Wrought iron prong from an ash quant, wood still in situ within socket, held by 6 nails. Found on conveyor belt, 11/05/1976. (1) (2)
C18 stoers. These are 2-pronged, socketed, wrought iron shoes that were nailed to the end of ash punting poles or oar blades. They were used for propelling barges or holding them stationary (stowing). 4 pole stoers (2 with the owners' initials) and 4 oar stoers were found together with 2 boat hooks and 2 gaffs. (3)
Not clear what was found where - see L8021 and L952 for other findspots of stoers.
