Full Description

With the exception of Pit 154, the remaining pits appear to be of late-medieval date. Pit 147 can be approximately dated to the C15th or early C16th, although the presence of later-C16th or even early C17th shards in the upper layers may not be attributable only to later disturbance, and the pit may have continued in use for a longer period. A great amount of roofing material was found in the C13th – C16th layers, some of it glazed, but none of the traces of building excavated gave any evidence for such substantial roofs. (1)
