Abstract/Summary

Tree-ring analysis concluded that the hall was built in the late C15 with a very early C18 timber-framed addition. It does contain one timber, the fireplace bressummer, that may have been felled in the late C16 early C17. Timbers from the main hall range including first floor stud patrician were felled in 1497. The timbers used for the east extension, including the smoke bay, were felled a few years later in 1500. The timber from the fireplace bressummer were felled circa 1600. Timber from the north-west range were felled in 1702.
