Abstract/Summary
This archaeological desk-based assessment considers land proposed for residential development at Nottingham Road, Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The site comprises approximately 1.68ha of overgrown open land lying between Nottingham Road and a stream known as the Westhorpe Dumble. The study considers the proposed site and 500m of the surrounding area.
Documentary sources such as HER were consulted to inform the study, a map regression and site visit (with photos) took place.
The report concludes that there is low potential for archaeology, there are only 2 archaeological sites/finds within the 500m area and suggests that it is unlikely that further archaeology will be recovered during any development.
