Abstract/Summary
An archaeological desk-based assessment has been prepared by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) for land at Park Road and Hollinwood Lane, Calverton, Nottinghamshire. The assessment has been commissioned by Persimmon Homes and is in advance of the proposed development of the land for new housing.
The NHER and other documentary sources were consulted and inform the report. A map regression exercise and a site visit took place. The report contains historic maps, Ariel photos and modern images of the site.
Notable archaeology the report mentions are the remains of two Roman marching camps to the north-east of the assessment area and a large Roman coin hoard was discovered within the town. There are also prehistoric field systems close to the assessment area. The report states that there are few known medieval / post medieval remains in the vicinity.
