Abstract/Summary
A watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks at Round Holt, Styrrup with Oldcotes. The watching brief monitored the excavation of a new cable trench and replacement of overhead poles, the development was funded by Northern Power Grid.
The watching brief reveal a sequence of natural subsoil deposits. No other archaeological features were identified during the work. Finds retrieved during the investigation comprise of pottery, brick, tile, glass and metalwork of post medieval date.
The site was close to known Iron Age to modern archaeological remains, around the areas of Harworth and Round Holt.
The report lists the designated context numbers and describes their nature –though the investigation only revealed top soil, subsoil and natural deposits, along with a list of finds. Photographs taken during the works, trench/ site plans and section drawings are all contained within the report.
