Abstract/Summary
A fluxgate gradiometer and resistivity surveys were undertaken on c.1ha of land at Annesley motte and bailey castle, Annesley, Nottinghamshire. The gradiometer survey recorded a relatively high density of anomalies, some of which appear to reflect defensive ditches. Others include ridge and furrow and modern ferrous remains.
A resistivity survey recorded relatively few significant anomalies, although some of the defensive features were also detected.
4 readings were taken per metre, the zig-zag traverse method of survey was used, with 1m wide traverses across 30m x 30m grids.
The surveys were conducted in rainy wet conditions.
This report contains annotated images of the results.
