Title Gradiometer Survey: Abbey and Long Meadows, Rufford Abbey, Nottinghamshire
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2006

Abstract/Summary

A fluxgate gradiometer survey was undertaken on the grounds of Rufford Abbey, Nottinghamshire. Few, if any, anomalies associated with Rufford Abbey were detected. In Abbey Meadow, two parallel linear anomalies indicate ditch-like features associated with wider landscaping. Two curvilinear features may indicate a former tree-lined boundary and modern footpath. An irregular anomalous zone to the north of the well may indiated remains of a corn dryer or simliar feature of unkonwn date. Long Meadow revealed little evidence relating to outlying builidngs associated with the abbey.
