Abstract/Summary

A programme of 20 trenches and 10 geoarchaeological test pits were undertaken across the site to ground-truth a previous phase of geophysics and assess the archaeological potential of the site. This work has demonstrated a high-level of archaeological activity across areas of the proposed development. Concentrations of prehistoric remains including a potential round barrow were identified, late Mesolithic and Neolithic/Brzone Age flint assemblages. Four Iron Age to Roman settlements identified, with no evidence of Saxon or medieval activity.
