Abstract/Summary
A geophysical survey of land was undertaken at Manton Wood, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
A previous heritage impact assessment has determined that no recorded designated or non-designated heritage assets will be impacted. However, it is recognised that due to the undeveloped nature of the land within the site boundary, there is a potential for previously-unrecognised buried archaeological remains to be present.
Geomagnetic survey was undertaken over the available land on a field by field basis, which comprised arable land at the time of the survey. Geophysical anomalies were limited to agricultural features, plough furrows and cultivation boundaries.
It is believed that northwest side of the survey area has been subject to soil-stripping and sand extraction, the land subsequently being re-instated as farmland, with a resulting lack of geophysical anomalies in this area.
The results of the geophysical survey indicate that the there is a low potential for archaeological features at the site.
