Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief within the Grade II Registered Park and Garden was undertaken at Rufford Abbey, and Rufford Mill, Ollerton, Nottinghamshire. The watching brief was carried out in order to provide archaeological monitoring of groundworks associated with the installation of additional play
equipment, toilet facilities and ancillary works in the Rufford Abbey Play Area, as well as the monitoring of groundworks associated with the excavation of open cut cable trenches in the Rufford Mill area.
No features or deposits of archaeological interest were observed in any of the areas of observed groundworks, and no artefactual material pre-dating the post-medieval/modern period was recovered.
