Title Redevelopment of Playing Field, Station Road, Collingham, Nottinghamshire: Scheme of Archaeological Monitoring and Recording
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2015

Abstract/Summary

A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording took place during the construction of a new supermarket with an associated extension to the village car park, on the site of an existing playing field in the village of Collingham in Nottinghamshire. Prehistoric and Roman archaeology in the area is limited to isolated find spots, not within the immediate vicinity of the development but a desk-based assessment undertaken prior to the current scheme concluded that, although the potential of the site was generally negligible, there was a low possibility of encountering Saxon remains during development groundworks. No archaeological features were encountered during the monitoring process.
