Abstract/Summary

The structural timbers thought to be associated with the initial construction of the house were probably felled in AD 1494. The ground floor ceiling beam is derived from a timber with an estimated felling date of AD 1607 – 30. The first floor ceiling contains a joist with an estimated felling date range of AD 1498 – 1523 and a main beam derived from a timber felled in AD 1742. A further timber in the south bay used to add structural integrity to the roof was also derived from a timber probably felled in AD 1742.
