Description
Farmhouse, gatehouse and boundary wall. C17, C18, C19. Coursed and squared rubble and brick with timber framing and brick hogging. Plain tile roof. Partially cogged and rebated eaves. 4 gable and single ridge stacks. 2 storeys, 4 bays wide by 4 bays deep. L-plan. Windows are mainly C20 casements. North-westfront has off-centre casement in place of original door, flanked by 2 casements. To right, single storey gabled bay with C19 casement. Above, to left, a casement. Rear has off-centre door flanked by single casements. Above, 3 casements. West gable has to left, addition with door. To right, 2 casements. Above, 2 casements. Rear wing has to west, dairy with casement and door. Above, 2 casements. To right, timber framed gatehouse has carriage opening with segmental head and to its right, door and casement. Above, 3 tiers of pigeonholes with shelves. East side has to left, carriage opening and to its right, 3 casements. Above, to right, stair light. Above again, a casement. Boundary wall to west of gatehouse has chamfered stone coping. To east, steps to square beaded moulded and chamfered doorway, C16. Garden wall, adjoining house, has similar opening. House contains a bay post and span beam. Early C17 dogleg winder stair with landings. Panelled square newels with ball finials. Shaped splat balusters. Matching landing balustrade and dog gate. Early C19 winder stair. Gatehouse has double purlin roof. Fireplace bressumer with smoke hood, bread oven and remains of brewing copper. (NCC/js)
