Description

Lodge. c.1855. Red brick with some blue brick diaper and ashlar dressings. Hipped slate roof with single projecting stack to the left and single stack to the rear. Set on a red brick plinth with chamfered ashlar course over. Single storey plus attic, single bay, with ground floor sill and lintel ashlar bands. Single canted bay window with casements, 2 decorated columns, single mullion and flush ashlar quoin surround. Above is a single gabled half dormer with barge board and single 2-light casement with mullion and lintel. To the right, set back, is a 2 storey, single bay, turret on a similar plinth with shaped pyramidal roof. Dog tooth eaves with Lombard frieze under. Ground floor sill and lintel bands, with further, similar band above. Single casement with lintel. The rear of the turret has a doorway with decorated imposts supporting an arch of billet style moulding with blue brick and ashlar infill. Above is an ashlar carved coat of arms. (NCC/js)
