Description

Early C19. 2-storey almshouses. Foundation of 1657, but building now dates from alterations in 1806 and 1819. Front is of red brick, with a modillion cornice and an open pediment over the centre, which breaks forward with 3 windows. 5-window frontage, all with pointed arches and intersecting glazing bars. Central door with similar architrave and fanlight. Plaque in tympanum recording foundation and alteration. Slate roof with 3 stacks. Nos 1 to 33 (odd) form a group. (NCC/js)
