Full Description

Founded in 1657, rebuilt in 1806, and altered in 1819. Brick with Gothic windows but a Georgian central pediment. In 1819 a pair of houses was built, one NW and one SW of the main building. To the right of the façade an extension dated 1835. (1)
On 12/05/1657 Richard Sloswicke left property to be used "for the maintenance of six poore old men". In 1681 Retford corporation took over the trusteeship but could accommodate only three men. A new hospital was erected in 1806. (2)
