Description

4 houses, now 3 shops. Early and mid C18, altered early and late C19 and mid C20. Colourwashed brick with pantile roofs. Single ridge and single gable stacks. 2 storeys and 2 storeys plus attics; 9 window range. 15, to left, has plinth, first and second floor bands and dentillated eaves. 2 segment headed plain sashes and above, a large raking dormer with C20 cross casement. Below, a late C19 wooden shopfront with C20 glazed door to right and single pane window to left. To its left, another single pane window. 17 and 19 have plain eaves with gutter on brackets. one 4-light and two 3-light Yorkshire sashes, the central one altered. To left, a C20 door flanked to left by a single pane window, both segment headed, and to right an altered late C19 shop window. To right again, a segment headed recessed glazed door flanked by single C19 2-light shop windows with wooden pilasters and cornices. 21 has incomplete rebated and dentillated eaves. To left, a 2-light yorkshire sash and to right a similar larger sash and a small glazing bar sash. Above, a gabled dormer with a 2-light Yorkshire sash. Below, to left, an early C19 pilastered wooden shopfront with hooded cornice. Glazing bar shop window flanked to right by a pair of doors one with fielded panels, the other beaded, with inscribed unglazed doverlight. To right again, good quality late C19 wooden shopfront with plain pilasters and enriched scroll brackets to dentillated cornice. Above the cornice, a large painted name board. To right, half-glazed panelled door flanked to left by a 2-light window. door and window have panelled inscribed toplights. Right gable, to Middlegate, has segment headed openings. Off-centre close boarded loading door with overlight, and above it, a small casement. Below, a large single pane window to left and a smaller glazing bar sash to right. (EH)
