Description
Former public house, now shop and office. Mid C18, raised and refronted c1840, with mid C19 additions and late C20 alterations. Brick with stucco front, stone dressings and slate roof. Plinth, rusticated quoins, first and second floor bands, renewed coped gables, single external gable and single rear wall stacks. 3 storeys; 4 window range of plain sashes with pilastered surrounds, diamond faced keystones and balustraded aprons. Above, 4 smaller plain sashes. Below, off-centre shouldered stucco doorcase flanked by scrapers, with part-glazed 6-panel door. To its left, a C20 3-light window. To right, 2 plain windows with shouldered surrounds. These and the doorway have diamond faced keystones. Right gable has corner doorway with hood on ornate cast iron brackets. To its right, a carriageway with elliptical arched stucco overthrow with keystone and hood mould, cornice and pseudo balustrade. Hipped rear wing, 3 storeys, 3 windows, has a small C20 window flanked by single Yorkshire sashes. Above, a single Yorkshire sash. Below, a renewed bow window flanked by a plain sash and a C20 door. Set back rear addition, to right, has a single gable stack. 2 storeys; 2 window range of Yorkshire sashes. Below, part-glazed C19 4-panel door and to its right a 2-light glazing bar shop window. (EH)
