Description
Viaduct. 1770 designed by Smeaton and widened 1922. Red brick. 7 round arches with buttresses between, plus brick parapets topped by ashlar coping, with scrolled and ramped ends with round brick piers. Part of Smeaton's Causeway carried out as improvement to the Great North Road by John Smeaton. P art of this viaduct also lies within the parish of Kelham. (NCC/js)
