Description

On the 13th December 1967, boat 3 fouled the dragline…Here the threat was immediate. Firstly, the vessel lay in the path of the dragline…Once found, the canoe could be avoided and gravel extracted around it, but topsoil stripping of the next quarry section to the east meant the complete burial of canoe 3 by spoil within a month if it were not removed.
