Description

A trial trench was marked out in the field on the SE corner of the crossroads, crossing the presumed line of the original road. Excavation of the first trench was entirely unproductive of any signs of disturbance or dateable material and an extension was therefore made at the easten end away from the Fosse. (1) See E5954 for watching brief on gas main trench.
