Description

A swathe some 6m wide was stripped of topsoil, on a line running SSW - NNE approximately at right angles to the cropmark. Over the area of the ditch the machine cutting was widened to 7.5m and a control section 2m wide was dug out beside it. Two sections 1.5m wide were excavated by hand at either end of the exposed length of ditch. (1)
