Description

This area (01) was machine excavated to c. 1m below the existing ground surface. Sample lengths of section were cleaned and recorded. Portions of selected features were excavated. Trench 03 was excavated to the top of the natural gravel, slightly deeper in places. (The plan shows area 01 as a NW / SE aligned trench of c.90m x c.0.3m wide, widening to c.0.6m for c.15m near the centre point, with area 03 coming off at a right angle and heading NE for c.15m.) (1) Grid ref at the junction of trenches 01 and 03. See E9111 for area 02.
