Description

This area was machine-excavated to a depth of c 1m below the existing ground surface. In addition, a 60cm-wide area was machine excavated down the long centre line of the wider part of the area to the top of the natural gravel (this was about 1.7m below ground for most of its length). (The plan shows a trench of c 40m long, aligned NW - SE, c 0.6 wide at the NW end and c 0.3m at the SE end). (1) Grid ref for E end of trench. See E9110 for areas 01 and 02.
