Description

Topsoil and modern overburden was removed by a JCB using a toothless bucket. Surfaces were cleaned by hand, photographed and any features planned. Trench 1 was approximately 0.6m x 2m perpendicular to the street frontage, trench 2 was about 10.4m x 2.45m, trench 3 was c. 11.6m x 2.2m. (1) Grid ref roughly centred over trench 01. See E9180 for adjacent watching brief.
