Description

The excavation trench was positioned with its N end immediately to the rear of the modern property frontage to London Road and extending c.43m SW from this point … c.1m wide … machine excavated to the level of natural sand and gravel. An additional area approximately 17.5m long by 1m wide, extending from the NE end of the trench SW along its SE side, was partially excavated by hand. (1) Grid ref for NE end of trench. See E9202 for fruitless watching brief nearby.
