Description
Watching brief on 4 November 1994 at Bottom Farm during excavation of five test pits for drainage by Joynes Pike & Associates. Watching brief during March 1995 on groundworks prior to building five new cottages. The digging work consisted of the excavation of cess pits and drains at the W end of the site, the digging of a drainage trench to a drain one field to the S of the site, the removal of about 30cm of topsoil from the centre of the site and foundation footings and service trenches for five cottages. It was impossible to use a toothless bucket as specified and toothed buckets were accordingly substituted. (1)
