Description

Evaluation prior to housing development. Access road section (Trench 01): extended 12m W back from the boundary wall on the frontage. Following cleaning, the stratigraphy was recorded in drawing and photographs. The rampart trench (02) … was 5x1m in plan, oriented E-W. … Main axis trenches (03 - 07), five trenches were excavated approximately along the main central axis of the site, on the same line as the rampart trench 02. 03 - 06 were 1 sq m and 07 was L-shaped (5 sq m in total). Two small trenches, 08 and 09 were located to sample the S side of the site and to investigate a stub of masonry. (1) Grid ref at E end of site.
