Description

Two trial trenches were opened by machine to remove the topsoil and subsoil. Sections were cut by hand across features revealed below the ploughsoil. The second trench was dug to test for the presence of palaeoenvironmental remains in a low-lying part of the site - no such evidence was found. (1) Grid reference for trench 1. Trench 2, located to the E of this position, revealed no features. See E9357 and E9359 for fieldwalking, E9360 for excavation.
