Two new areas were opened at the quarry, both adjacent to existing quarried areas. Removal of topsoil, and of a variable thickness of cultural subsoil, was monitored by the archaeologist on site. Stripping of soil was carried out by tracked 360 degree back acter excavators fitted with toothless ditching buckets. Best Red Quarry, a long thin strip aligned N-E to S-W and covered an area of approximately 4000 sqm. No archaeological evidence was present.
