Description

Watching brief on the excavation of a series of drains in the churchyard. The drainage work was required due to the subsidence of much of the churchyard due to mining. No human remains or other deposts of archaeological interest were exposed. This was largely as a result of routing the drainage runs to avoid the known inhumations. The waterlogged condition of the W extent of the churchyard appears to have discouraged burial in antiquity. (1)
