Description

Ground preparations for the positioning of scaffolding verticals were carried out under archaeological supervision, inside the Chancel and South Transept. Given the absence of worked stones, all available recording time was spent annotating paper copies of the rectified photographic record of the elevations. … The location and extent of the four excavated trenches was recorded on a copy of the site plan {not included in report - DJB}. For each trench, written notes were made of soil type and excavated finds and all moulded or carved stones were drawn in outline (not to scale). All worked stones were removed from the working area and placed either on pallets, if moulded, or on the ground, if plain ashlar. Loose rubble and pieces of worked stone wre cleared from 3 areas, under archaeological supervision. (1)
